Ozzy Osbourne On Rockline
The title of his new book is "I Am Ozzy", a sometimes morbid story, a jaw-dropping account of an existence few could imagine, let alone believe, a brutally honest account of how a young lad named John Michael Osbourne from Aston, England, 14 Lodge Road to be precise, became vocalist of one of Rock's most successful and innovative bands, a collection of four misfits who didn't like the music they were hearing so they created their own and with it an entirely new genre, Heavy Metal.
How ironic that the only class in school that Ozzy enjoyed was "Heavy Metalworks" where he could fashion his own contraptions, sometimes physical manifestations of the pain and torment inside, of the insecurities which helped create the person virtually the entire world now knows. A quick jump to www.Ozzy.com or www.MySpace.com/OzzyOsbourne will help you learn more about the maven of Metal and his current goings-on.
Somehow, not surprisingly, the only early job Osbourne enjoyed was working in a slaughterhouse where he did every gut-wrenching job on the premises from shooting deadly metal bolts into cow's brains to hanging pork fat. Something you may not know about his considerable depth of character is it was he who implored his co-workers to not employ the cruelty which was common in such a place. Yes, it was Ozzy who asked his mates to show some respect for the frightened animals who sensed they were about to meet their creator... and soon. He also suggests that those who eat meat, especially the mass produced kind where animals are often sliced open from top to bottom before they've died, should spend some time in a slaughterhouse before blithely ordering McCow. Two or three minutes ought to do it. It's all here, his early days living in a home so small that the entire family slept in the same room, his early encounters with the well read, early (for his time) fashionista Terrence Butler, a Geezer at an early age, his first encounters with the guy who was cooler than cool, the one who "got all the chicks" and played guitar like no other, Tony Iommi and his sidekick Bill Ward and continues to present day with the insane rollercoaster ride of extremes that comprise the life of a man you may think you know, but really don't know at all.
Unflinchingly honest, shocking, heartfelt and romantic; from prison to stardom to being saved by what he needed most, love. The succinct title says it all, "I Am Ozzy". Don't miss this rare no call show as Ozzy Osbourne joins us on our next ROCKLINE!
